Specialization Course in CERAMIC ART AND CERAMIC INSTITUTE
Aims of the Course
The course give the students a specific knowledge of the History of ceramic art and the knowhow of ceramic technology for ceramic production or design.
Knowledges:
At the end of the course the students will have the following skills:
- knowledge of raw materials for ceramic products, their techniques and purpose
- knowledge of History of ceramic art with historical evolution of different styles and decoration
- knowledge of design and project theories practiced in graphic representation both traditional and computerized
- knowledge of management of ceramic production (handicraft, artistic and design)
- knowledge of technologic, aesthetic and stylistic production
- knowlwdge of mixtures and coverings for ceramic products
- knowledge of specific ceramic design for promotion on the national and international markets, with a specific analysis of the different steps for any kind of ceramic production
- skills for the production of handicrafts, art works, and design (sculptures, panels, furniture, table pottery, tiles, modules and so on)
The courses are devided into different steps, each one for a specific ceramic technique (earthenware, coverings, maiolica, “terzo fuoco”, raku, gres, porcelain).
Each technique is studied both from an historical and a technical point of wiev, in any subject.
IN the final part of the second year the students have to prepare a thesis and can attend a stage at a ceramic factory or shop.
