Specialization Course in CERAMIC RESTORATION
Aims of the course.
The course gives the students a knowledge in ceramic restoration, history and stylistic production and specific restoration techniques. Any technique will be practiced in our laboratories.
The different subjects and classes will give the students the skill and competence to prepare, design and make specific restorations of ceramic fragments coming from excavations, collections or architectural parts or pieces.
Knowledges
At the end of the course the students will have the following skills:
- knowledge of the definition and classification of ceramic products, raw materials, techniques used in the past with practice in labs.
- knowledge of history of ceramic art, with specific reference to historic evolution of different styles.
- knowledge of graphic techniques for ceramic fragments drowing
- knowledge of alteration of ceramic materials
- knowledge of materials for ceramic restoration and of the main techniques for scientific research and diagnostic methods in ceramic field
- knowledge of different steps for restoration analysis and practice.
- skills for decoration restoring of fragments or objects, graphic projects, design and card-index for catalogue (filing)
The Ballardini Art Institute will always keep in touch the students with MIC (International Ceramic Museum) of Faenza, and with the Superintendent foe Archeological Properties of Emilia Romagna, following specific agreements for collaboration with the most representative people and places in the ceramic field.
